Boyer Quince

Fruit:
A small deciduous tree, growing 15-20 feet tall and 10-12 feet wide. Quince are related to apples and pears. Quince bear fruit that is bright golden yellow when mature, and pear shaped. They have a distinctive pleasing aroma. Somewhat astringent in flavor, Quince are best utilized in jelly or cooking. Quince are self fertile, however a bigger crop is produced when cross pollinization is utilized. Quince are very frost hardy, and require a cold period of 20 degrees Fahrenheit to flower properly.
